    Introduction

This year, the following groups will be involved in SMB's 'Industry Placement Programme' alongside their course:

    Business Level 3 Year 1 (Group A & B)

    IT Level 3 Year 1

Construction and the Built Environment Level 3 Year 1

    Engineering Level 3 Year 1

Please familiarise yourself with the Industry Placement Powerpoint for more information on the programme. Please can all students also complete the Industry Placement Preference Form below and send back to Megan Sheridan via email: megansheridan@smbgroup.ac.uk or drop into Student Services.

Due to COVID restrictions, placements may be a bit different and staggered across your 2 years at college, however it is more important than ever in the given climate to achieve industry relevant experience with employers.

    Lockdown Learning

As we enter 2021 into another national lockdown and switch to remote learning again, it is important to prepare yourselves and remain in the mindset of being 'work ready' for when placements can commence for this academic year and next.

Please can I ask all learners involved in this years Industry Placement Programme and completing and Industry Placement to start to look at developing an up to date CV and Cover Letter. Resources on how to create a CV and Cover Letter can be found below.

A good CV and Cover Letter isn't complete after one draft! It is important to get feedback from fellow peers, tutors, parents to help these develop. I am happy to receive draft copies, ideas, questions from you all via email/Teams.

Please can I ask all students to email a copy of their CV and Cover Letter (separately or together) to myself at megansheridan@smbgroup.ac.uk

It is important that you develop these documents ready for when placements can start to get back up and running, and for the future when applying for jobs/apprenticeships/further education.

    Thank you!

    Megan
